Street Art Competition

Class: Mrs Pickering - Bassenthwaite Year: 2018 - 2019

We were joined by Matthew Labourne who is an ex-pupil of St James’. Matthew is project manager of a company called The Colourful North who have organised many street-art installations including recent additions at The Whitehaven Acdemy and Parton St Bridget's. We were excited to hear his story and launch our very own competition that has gone out this week. The competition asks children to capture elements of the past, present and future that can be linked to St James, or even their own lives in Whitehaven.  From a selection of pieces we are hoping to put together a street-art collage on the sandstone wall adjacent to our lodge. This installation will be part of the development of the school yard using funds raised oer the last 2 –years from Friends of ST James and other fundraising events. The school council have been busy meeting with Mr King and Mrs Maiden to put across what they would like to improve about the school yard.
