Children listed to and appraised the piece of music made famous by the Alton Towers adverts: The Hall of the Mountain King by Edvard Grieg.
They learnt what crescendo and accelerando are and how they are used in this piece of music.
They were then given the main motif to learn on glockenspiel.
Finally, they were asked to use the same notes to compose a variation of their own.
They performed these to the class and listened to each other's compositions.
