Frank Bowling art
Lesson: Art and design
Class: Mr Tyson - Ennerdale Year: 2020 - 2021
As well as being busy with all things Christmas, class five have been learning about an artist called Frank Bowling. Frank is an abstract artist who was born in Guyana before moving to Britain at 19, he was inspired by the pop artists of the 1960's. He was the first black British artist to be awarded an OBE for art and his work is multilayered and full of colour. After learning about Frank, the children had a go at creating some of their own work in a similar style. Just like the work of Frank, we built up layers throughout the week by using all sorts of materials from pencils and paints to tissue paper and glitter. I think the children did a fantastic job and I'm really pleased with the display.
