Class 6 - Prayers for people in need

Lesson: Religious education

Class: Church Links & RE Year: 2018 - 2019

During our reflective thinking time this afternoon class 6 decided they wanted to think about people who are in need.

We had a good discussion about what 'in need' means.

Livvy - Someone who might not have enough money.

George E -When you see those adverts of people drinking dirty water, they need help. We take things like that for granted.

Libby - People might get poorly because they don’t have enough money, they might not have any money for food. In school we help people in need by collecting food for Foodbank. We raise money for charity.

Ross - We help people by collecting money, giving what we can. Just like the widow with the two silver coins.

Marcie - Poor people need help. They appreciate the things we take for granted.

Daniel - Homeless people need our help.

Sophia - In hot countries where it doesn't rain as much they don't have water to help things grow.

Isla -Once when I went to Edinburgh I saw a homeless person.

Livvy - When I was in New York I saw a homeless person, I asked my mam for some money to give to them.

William - On the film Wreck it Ralph he gives his cherry to another character who doesn't have anything.

How would Jesus want us to behave to others?

Jack G - You should treat others how you want to be treated.

We were really proud with the children's responses this afternoon. They linked ideas to bible stories, real life experiences and films. They then went on to write some amazing prayers.
