Foodbank Visit

On Monday we were visited by Stuart from North Lakes Foodbank. You may remember that we hosted a collection for this charity during our Harvest Festival, and he came in to thank the children and families for their compassionate hearts. He also presented an assembly to discuss how the Foodbank works and what qualities and skills a foodbank worker needs when receiving, sorting and delivering the food for those in need. Whilst he was here, he announced a surprise that some of our children had completed an optional homework task to create a birthday card for the volunteers from the Foodbank. Our entries were really well received with one of our students Penny W being announced as one of the winners. Her design will be made into cards and passed on to the volunteers on their birthday. A lovely idea! Penny was presented with a host of art and craft resources, with the school also being presented with a cheque for £100 to be used for art/craft materials in school. These will be selected for our breakfast and after school club, and we will get Penny’s input on the type of things that could be fun to use with the money.
