Class 6 - RE - The Good Samaritan

Class: Church Links & RE Year: 2018 - 2019

Class 6 retold the parable of the Good Samaritan through drama and role play. We then discussed the key message Jesus was trying to get across.

Who was a neighbour?

Charly - The Samaritan he showed kindness by helping the Jew and taking him to an inn.

Isla - The Samaritan, the other two ignored the Jew. But he helped him and didn't walk away.

Would you expect the other two to ignore him?

Marcie - No, we would expect them to help because they are people who should care for each other.

George P - They are supposed to help you up and be kind to you.

Ross - You wouldn't expect that. They should have helped.

How did the Jew feel when he realised a Samaritan helped him?

Sophia & Marcie - Thankful.

George E - Shocked.

Lillia & Zara - Grateful.

Key message from the children - Treat people how you want to be treated. So when Jesus said the Good Samaritan was the one showing love and being a good neighbour, he meant we should help those in need regardless of who they are.
