Class 5 Kenning competition

Lesson: English

Class: Mrs Foye - Ullswater Year: 2018 - 2019

All of thre children in class 5 followed up the trip to The Lake District Wildlife Park by writing poems about the three reptiles we saw. These poems were written in the form of a kenning.

A kenning is a collection of two word phrases, which are sometimes metaphorical, to describe something. They originate from Old Norse literature.

The poems were read aloud to class 6 who were asked to pick their top two.

The winner was Chloe.

Second place was Charlie

I picked two poems for joint third place which were Layla and Caleb.

Well done to the whole class for making choosing the winners such a difficult job.

Enjoy reading!
