Class 4 - English/History - Poetry Recitals

Class: Mr Carruthers - Derwentwater Year: 2019 - 2020

In Mr Carruthers’ English group, we have been writing poetry based on the Christmas Day Truce of the First World War.  A recital is where you learn a poem or passage of text then say it aloud to an audience, from memory.

Here are some of our recital practice videos.  The poems are powerful and use a variety of different poetry techniques which we studied before writing. See if you can spot some; alliteration, personification, imagery, hyperbole, similes, and short line breaks.
