Buttermere - Music for the Chinese New Year

Lesson: Music

Class: Miss A Pool - Buttermere Year: 2022 - 2023

In music this half term we are looking at pentatonic melodies and the music used to celebrate the Chinese New Year. We began by looking at the story of the dragon Nian and how this tale has inspired the activities amd traditions within the Chinese New Year celebrations. We then listened to some of the music used in the celebrations and watched a dragon dance. Then, we made our own dances inspired by the tempo and pace of the music. Finally, we began to create dragon masks to use during our final performance.
