Buttermere - Art Day 3

Lesson: Art and design

Class: Miss A Pool - Buttermere Year: 2022 - 2023

On day 3 of our art week we had fun working with some messy materials to create some fantastic pieces of art. We started by using natural materials we had collected, to experiment with creating marks and pigment in our sketch books. We discovered that each natural object made marks on our page, some were bright and vibrant and others were trickier to see. Buttermere particualrly liked the bright colours made with berries and flower petals. The stone age people must have used lots of these natural objects to create thier cave paintings.
Next we made paint by using flower and water to make a paste. To add colour to our paint we mixed in different spices. We made red, brown and yellow coloured paint. We then experimented with this paint by painting patterns and simple drawings in our sketch books.
