School Newspaper

Class: English Year: 2018 - 2019

This week our School Council was joined by Julie Morgan from The Whitehaven News who spoke to the group about their current school newspaper project, 'GR8 Newz 4 Kidz'. The children discussed how they had designated their own roles: Editor, Recruitment, Photographer, Financial Manager, HR and Journalist; and were now aiming to write up the articles ready for the first edition going to print.

Julie Morgan, joined with Diane Richardson from Balfour Beatty, shared their expertise in the world of business and journalism. Full of inspiration, the group took their new understanding into their first full newspaper club session.

Look out for the first edition coming soon. The newspaper will be sold directly from school and also from Whitehaven branches of Hospice at Home, Santander and Richardson's of Whitehaven.  Money raised from this project will support the work of Hospice at Home, so please give generously and spread the word.
