The curriculum at St James’ CE Junior School is aimed to provide opportunities for all children to learn and achieve; to promote children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and to prepare them for the opportunities and experiences of their next stage of education and future life.

We adopt a unique approach to delivering the curriculum entitled ‘Learn 2 Learn’. This approach puts 4 core components at the centre of every lesson:

1) A relentless focus on the learner; 2) Timely feedback allowing pupils to regulate their learning; 3) Increased dialogue and collaboration to promote a whole-class learning community; 4) Challenging learning tasks to promote, engage and scaffold thinking skills and meaning making.

Our curriculum is constantly evolving to develop the skills needed for children to become successful learners, help prepare them for life in modern Britain and empower them to achieve success in the future.

Religious education is delivered through the Carlisle Diocese scheme of work.

The curriculum at St James’ CE Junior School aims to:

  • Inspire children to develop a love of learning
  • Provide memorable opportunities and experiences
  • Enable children to become self-directed learners
  • Encourage our children to value their own spiritual, moral, social and cultural views and of others from around the world.
