We believe these values are empowering our pupils to develop their spirituality and guiding them in personal development as effective learners and good citizens. For more information please view our Values Powerpoint for Parents.
As a school, we focus on a different Christian value each half term. To further strengthen our home – school links we will upload resources with lots of fun activities that the family can do together, and ideas to start discussions about the value at home with children. Have fun!

Our Church
St. James’ Junior School is a Church of England primary school of voluntary controlled status.
Having good links with our local Church School is very important to us. The children have the opportunity to come into St. James’ Church on numerous occasions during the school year. Whole School Collective Worship is led by myself in the church on alternate weeks, and the six Christian Values which are a foundational aspect of school life, underpin what we do together and how we do it.
I visit the school often and take an occasional role in delivering the Understanding Christianity teaching material in the School. During the past year I have also led ‘Sing Squad’ and I have been the Basketball Coach for an after school club!
Over the year St. James’ Church partners with both our Church Schools in delivering spectacular special services: ‘For our mams’ and ‘The Big Christmas Sing’ to name just two. The Church also lays on special events at Easter and occasional ‘Sacred / Prayer Space’ activities at other times during the year. We also ensure that all Children are given a Bible of their own when they start at our school.
St. James’ Church also runs Messy Church and Pizza Church - which have a good number of local children and families in attendance.
As I look back over the best past of four years of involvement with our school, I am delighted with the wonderful way our church and school links have been maintained and even deepened.
You see, our church and school link is way more than an occasional assembly!
Finally, I am very thankful for our supportive community who also work hard to maintain a great relationship / partnership between our church and school.
St James’ Junior School is a wonderful school with a great Christian ethos.
The schools Christian Values are not just words on display boards around the school. But, are evidenced through the terrific children and fantastic staff who make our school a joyful place to be!
